Two more parts and I’m almost done… weeew! Attitude Reformation, Open Education and Population Growth Control

These three are my personal ideas on how to improve our quality of life, derived from the State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo last July 28, 2008. In her SONA, she had expressed well the different issues her country is facing right now. She has mentioned different solutions to at least alleviate our economic conditions presently. With this, I’ve also come up with three research topics in which I believe are keys that will contribute to the development of our nation. I have developed three concepts, the first topic concerns with human development through character building since we must start with the basics, and it is within us. Secondly, education, it is the best tool to succeed. If everyone will be entitled of it, then everyone could savor the fruit of success. Lastly, population growth control, we all know that Philippines is among of the countries which have a vast increase in the number of population annually. And unfortunately, most Filipinos cannot feed these new birthed children, in fact, they cannot even provide good living for themselves. Indeed, extensive population growth is one of the major factors why poverty in our country aggravates.

The following are my research topic proposals and its objectives:

Human Attitude Reformation: A key to alleviate Filipinos from poverty

The research would discuss on how human attitude affects his actions and decisions on how to handle certain situations specifically, poverty. Most of the Filipinos have different coping mechanisms in order to survive. The research will also attest that human’s success is anchored on good moral foundations.

Objectives:
1. To determine what are the perceptions of Filipinos toward poverty.
2. To determine what are the existing values being practiced by Filipinos.
3. To determine how do Filipinos cope up in times of economic difficulties.
4. To know what are the supports being extended by the government to alleviate Filipinos from poverty.
5. To identify what are the programs initiated by government and non-government institutions that concern with Filipinos’ character reorganization.
6. To come up with appropriate recommendations relative to poverty alleviation.

Open Education for All: An Approach for the Betterment of the Filipino Society

Most of the Filipinos suffering from poverty are unemployed. And most of these jobless people are undereducated. With this, the research would discuss on one of the factors for an individual to succeed, education. Open education refers to the freeing of education to all individuals regardless of the classes they belong in the society. The research will support the concept that if education is open to all, each of the Filipinos will have a brighter future ahead of them, and each of them will contribute to the society’s development.

Objectives:
1. To determine what are the different perceptions of Filipinos toward the importance of education.
2. To determine the no. of Filipinos who go to school and identify the educational attainment level most of them is finished.
3. To identify what are the different scholarship programs initiated by both government and non-government institutions to help poor but deserving out-of-school youth.
4. To identify the essential factors involved in the realization of the said approach.
5. To design a model that would illustrate how open education could benefit different entities.
6. To come up with suitable recommendations in order for the said approach to produce good and effective results.

Managing Population Growth to Attain Genuine Development

The very nature of widespread poverty in the Philippines is the uncontrollable growth of population. Though there are some programs initiated by both government and non-government organizations to help lessen or control the extensive population growth, the key for the attainment of these still lies on the people’s choice. Perhaps, a more effective approach is needed in the proper management of population growth.

Objectives:
1. To determine the annual increase of the number of population by category based on the different levels in the society.
2. To identify the significant factors or issues that causes the extensive population growth.
3. To identify the different programs developed and promoted by both government and non-government institutions to help control the population growth.
4. To determine the different approaches in population growth control, how these approaches be applied and what are the expected outputs from these.
5. To determine the different manners in attaining genuine development by proper management of population growth.
6. To identify the different mechanisms in encouraging the people to understand the concept of population growth control by educating them the importance of sex discipline for the attainment of it.
7. To design a framework that would guide us on how the population growth management be achieved.
8. To come up with appropriate recommendations in attaining actual development, relative to population growth management.

Those were only proposals and were just part of our CS Research Methods assignment. We are asked to derive three research topics from President GMA’s SONA on how to improve the quality of life. Though, the said research topic proposals would not be actually studied, still, making use of my proposed research topics would highly require my authorization. Thank you.

Virtual Crime

I actually belong to the virtual community and I sometimes worry about the exposure of my identity. I have read an article featured in Sunstar before that identity theft online is prevalent nowadays. Undeniably, we sometimes reveal information we thought not that significant or useful for others or maybe we thought that there are no risks in revealing these information anyway.

Just try to imagine this, those little pixels in the monitor screen are converted into hundreds or maybe thousands of virtual eyes viewing or watching over you every now and then from any point in the globe. Later, you’ll find out that you already have a virtual stalker tracking you from time to time. Or even worse, your identity has just been stolen by someone else and used this information against you.

Well, online social networking is indeed fun. You meet new friends, connect distant people and share knowledge with the virtual crowd but then it couldn’t always be denied that there are just some people whose job is to do things in the opposite way making our world balance. With this, let’s just have to be intelligently balanced as well by outdoing these evildoers. We have to ensure that the information we reveal must not disclose important personal details that might be useful or beneficial for others like complete address, bank account numbers, etc. or even pictures that could be used by someone mischievously. Remember that virtual crime may be the toughest mystery to solve where every virtual entity in the virtual community is a suspect. Worst, tracking of that particular person is done online, which means “offline” would save him from being caught.

Research Topic Proposal: Technopreneur Blogging

I was really, really happy Wednesday when I checked the Research Topic Posts in Sir Randy S. Gamboa’s Forum (http://rsg0927.forumsmotion.com/research-topic-f6/technopreneur-blogging-the-incorporation-of-it-knowledge-and-business-t87.htm) and saw my research proposal on Technopreneur Blogging was immediately approved. Really, I was very glad that in just 20 minutes after I posted the said proposal, Sir RSG directly approved it without waiting for my classmates to comment for it (Sir RSG has instructed us in advance that before he’s going to approve our proposals, we should be gaining at least 5 comments first before he’s going to make some remarks).
It was actually, my second proposal. My first proposal was about the Online Releasing of Students’ Grades and Financial Accounts which gained 7 comments from my classmates however, did not interest our professor. In fact, he didn’t even at least give a short remark on it or any negative feedback from him which just meant, he was not really paying attention at all that giving negative feedbacks are not even necessary to notify me that the said topic is a no new to him. Huhuhu But then, it has given me enough motivation to think for another good proposal that could catch his attention.

I was actually thinking for 3 proposals. Those were: Comparative Study on Different Web Searching Algorithms; Research on E-Education Process and its Efficiency; and Technopreneur Blogging: The Incorporation of IT Knowledge and Business through Blogging. The last topic was certainly, the closest to my heart since I really have more interest on the said topic that’s why I submitted it. Indeed, blogging has been my favorite hobby lately.

Now, let me give you a rough idea about my research topic. What would be the factors or matters I’d be focusing on my research.

In point of fact, blogging has been recognized as a new method of information-sharing in the internet nowadays. And the blogosphere is indeed, the new virtual community. We, bloggers are not alone. Several individuals, in fact, hundreds of them are accessing our blogs every now and then. This somehow has given us a fact that our knowledge shared through our blogs has been actually perceived, used and applied by some of our readers around the globe. We may not be aware but we may already have regular readers and have consistently viewing our blogs to gain information and ideas from us.

With this, there are some advertisement providers and online money-maker companies that had observed these consistent schemes and approaches. So they had introduced many procedures to help, as well as, promote these blogs into the virtual community by providing the blog authors different methods on how to make money online and converting their virtual diaries into an effective money-making blogs, incorporating their knowledge shared through their blogs and business into one efficient technopreneur blog. Indeed, these providers have been very helpful to connect IT knowledge and business.

Certainly, blogging will give us a very wide and better access to people around the world and there’s just no equivalent of it in the offline world. Accordingly, there’s no better chance to share our knowledge, let others perceived it and appreciate us, and at the same time, making business out of it. It is not about selling our ideas but rather, sharing our knowledge with worth or value.

And so, my research would focus on the different methods on how IT knowledge and business are incorporated to make one efficient technopreneur blogging. Additionally, I’d be studying on the different procedures imposed by these providers to help blog authors resourcefully and capably make money online. Certainly, this research would help us, students on how to make blogging as a part-time job.

Research evaluation

Since research provides new knowledge and information, it must be considered that a research should be reliable and justifiable. With this, a research should be evaluated by the validity of its content and its impact to the reader. It should be able too to express to the reader the essential information contained in the research paper. Also, the research should also be evaluated on how the ideas being organized and presented in the research paper.

The role of research topic in deciding your future career…

Basically, the research topic is related to our field. Concentrating on the chosen subject will foretell that our future career would definitely be associated with the research topic. As I’ve said, the research topic would concern or relate to the field of Information Technology since it is in this field that we are more familiar and experienced with and importantly, we could simply interrelate with. With this, I could say that the research topic would certainly help me in determining in which track I’ll be trailing in the future. Definitely, the research topic would be a good basis that it is in this particular field I’ve done extremely well and would be a good foundation in choosing my future career. In other words, the research topic is a good determinant in which field I’ll be taking for my future career.

The research topic should address…

Being in the field of information technology, it is more sensible to research topics concerning or related to our field. Firstly, we are more familiar and experienced in this field and importantly, we could easily interact to the topic. For me, it’s desirable to focus on the research on the fast innovations of technology and know what other possible technologies that could help us in our daily lives, especially, concentration on nanotechnology. Perhaps, research on human computer interaction is also a great topic to study. Studying human computer interaction must include the different moral values human should possess in utilizing a very powerful tool, technology. I believe that there are things we need to discover beyond the power of the technology. And these are the humans, who are behind these accelerative thrust. Knowing their basic moral foundation is one of the important things we just overlooked in the past. Maybe, a good research of it would help us be better IT individuals.
