A Day In My Life

Friday, April 16, 2021

I maintain a routine throughout my workweek that normally involves juggling between being a mom, a wife, and an employee who’s working from home.

04:30 – 06:00 AM ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿง˜‍♀️๐Ÿงบ

My sis and I get to start our day with Badminton social-game (less competitive) session. Alternatively, I begin with a Yoga Practice. I also do twice-a-week laundry, usually after a 30-minute Yoga session.

06:00 – 06:30 AM ๐Ÿณ๐ŸŒพ

I prepare for and eat breakfast with Jowen and Zk. I would normally take my overnight oats prepared from the night before.

06:30 – 06:45 AM ๐Ÿšฟ๐Ÿงป

Bath time with Zk and hygiene checks.

06:45 – 07:15 AM ๐Ÿงน๐Ÿงฎ๐Ÿš’

Home tidying and organization (preparing for daily toddler-made Ztorm).

 07:15 – 08:00 AM ๐Ÿงพ✅

Almost all the time, I start my workday with brief review of what-to-dos, round up and send key instructions via e-mail or another communication media (so if you happen to be my workmate, do not be surprised to see before-08:00-AM timestamp).

08:00 – 10:00 AM ๐Ÿ“Š๐ŸŽฏ

Top-of-the-list task execution. Meetings. I also take few breaks in between to attend to Zk's needs or make sure that he gets an undivided attention before he decides to interrupt my Zoom sessions because you know---toddlers. ๐Ÿ’ข

10:00 – 10:15 AM ๐Ÿต๐Ÿ”ช๐Ÿฅฆ

Tea time with lunch preparation.

10:15 – 11:30 AM ๐Ÿ“ƒ⌨️๐Ÿ–ฑ️

Meetings or Reviews.

11:30 – 12:00 NN ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿณ↔️๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ’ป

Home chef / keyboard warrior switching roles.

12:00 – 12:15 PM ๐Ÿฑ

Lunch.

12: 15 – 01:30 PM ๐Ÿ˜ด

Nap time with Zk.

01:30 – 03:30 PM ๐Ÿ—จ️๐Ÿคณ๐Ÿงธ

Next-in-line task execution or Zoom meetings (these cover almost half the time of my workweek---especially now that access to online sessions is just one link away). And Zk in between.

03:30 – 03:45 PM ☕๐Ÿช๐Ÿผ

Coffee break. Zk's 5th milk, I guess.

03:45 – 05:30 PM ๐Ÿ“‰๐Ÿ’พ

Low-priority task execution.

05:30 – 05:45 PM ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Plant checks/ watering. Outside-home tidying.

05:45 – 06:15 PM ๐Ÿฅ˜๐Ÿฅ ↔️,๐Ÿงน๐Ÿš’๐Ÿงฎ↔️๐ŸŽฝ๐Ÿงฆ

Dinner preparation and home re-organizing after the Ztorm has passed ๐Ÿ˜‹. I also maximize my time to fold and put away clean clothes on laundry days.

06:15 – 06:30 PM ๐Ÿœ

Dinner.

06:30 – 06:45 PM ๐Ÿ›€

Half-bath time with Zk.

06:45 – 07:00 PM ๐Ÿต๐Ÿถ

Tea time with overnight oats preparation.

07:00 – 08:15 PM ๐Ÿ“จ

Final review and task queuing for the next workday (even with routines as consistent as this get disrupted that I would not hesitate sending those e-mails as late as 12mn).

08:15 – 08:30 PM ๐Ÿ’ช

Core workout for good night sleep.

08:30 PM onwards ๐Ÿ›Œ๐Ÿงฑ๐Ÿฟ๐ŸŽž️๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍❤️‍๐Ÿ‘จ

Zzzzzk. (Or movie night with Owen!)

What I love about being a full-time-mom-working-from-home is that I get to maximize my time so well. For instance, the time I previously spent in traffic on the way from and to home has been converted to quality moments with Zk and Owen. ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿ‘ฆ I have likewise unlocked new skills that I would be able to do more with the available time; get creative of how to be mom๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ‘ฆ, wife ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍❤️‍๐Ÿ‘จ, and employee๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ’ป, especially in the middle of the day where all these works would have to be exhibited into one time frame. ⏲️

The WFH setup further allows me to be more productive anytime of the day which has been mutually beneficial for my employer and me---I have slowly and perfectly attained and sustained work-life balance for the past year. ๐Ÿง–‍♀️๐Ÿ“ˆ I can now work stress-free, safe and in the comfort of my home. ๐Ÿก

Lastly, I have been connected with self and nature more than ever. ๐Ÿง˜‍♀️

This is me in my default Zoom white top. ✌️
